Teaching the Constitution in Schools under Common Core

I am disturbed this afternoon as I type this. I am actually sickened by the posts I have seen on facebook and other social media sites that show these pictures of textbooks. These textbooks show altered versions of the Constitution specifically the latest one showed the Second Amendment. In it the book said that certain people have a right to buy a permit to own specific types of guns as long as they have not been in prison.

The Constitution actually states that we have the right to keep and bear arms and this shall not be infringed. This is why I will never have a permit to carry a firearm. This is why I will not ask permission from the government to own a firearm. It is a right. An inherent right given by God, the Grand Architect of the Universe, and passed down to us. This right is also a protected one by a beautiful document signed in 1787 by some of the most noble men to have ever lived. We didn't ask permission from King George III if we could own guns, nor did Samuel Adams and other brothers at The Green Dragon Tavern ask his permission to dump tea in the Boston Harbor in 1773.

George Washington didn't ask permission from King George III to fight the British for 7 long years ultimately winning our independence so that we can call ourselves free. I'm waiting to see what Common Core teaches about the First Amendment. Do we have the right to free speech as long as we obtain permission to use that free speech? Do we have the right to practice any religion we desire as long as we obtain a permit? If this goes and gets accepted into mainstream public education in twenty years this country will be just as gone as Communist Cuba.

I have a friend of mine who is a college student at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. He is 18 years old and a very smart kid. I told him today that his is the last generation that will ever know freedom and what exactly it means.  By the time he is 40 we will no longer have freedom without permission in this country and we will be under the confines of a ruling class. It took 13 years to get us from The Stamp Act to the Declaration of Independence. It took 7 years to win the war of insurrection. It took 4 years to come up with a Congress and to write the Constitution and a Bill of Rights. It lasted for 214 years and has been going downhill like a bathtub drain since 2001. It will take just 20 more years to destroy it completely.

God I hope I am wrong with the last part of this rant.

So mote it be.
